Jubilee Singers

The Jubilee Singers

The Jubilee Singers are an a cappella choral group dedicated to sharing the beautiful harmonies and stirring emotions of the original African-American Spirituals.

The Jubilee singers were founded fifteen years ago by Reverend Charles King, a cousin of Martin Luther King and director of the world famous Wings Over Jordon Choir in the 40's and 50's.

Currently, the Jubilee Singers are directed by Hartwig Eichberg, a concert pianist with an ear for perfection, beauty, and a passion for the Spirituals.

Many of these Spirituals were kept in the traditional style, as gathered from relatives, friends and neighbors who remembered the oral tradition of music born out of plantation life
in the Old South.
